She Left Us
-J. Burridge

It’s amazing how one sentence is enough to make you realise that every word that person once said to you was a lie.
It’s amazing how people are fighting quite different battles to what they say that they are battling, amazing how they lie, amazing how, in your mind, they die.

It’s a normal night like any other,
But something is afoot,
Something is missing,
You feel something.

Your room’s heart is opened out,
It hears a few nice words,
Then there is nothing more.

Slowly,
It’s not going to go away.
It’s an invasion,
No longer can she stay.

You open the office door
They tell you what she should have told you
You look down at the floor
And you wonder…

You really wonder!

This is why divorces hurt,
How easily I’m deceived!
There was nothing more than lies,
Lies that I believed.

Our family was hosting an exchange student, but then she left, and there's still no reason as to why. I don't know what problems she had, she wouldn't tell me. Well... she said some stuff... but nothing that really made sense. Ah well, she's very good at saying things she doesn't mean, and I'm sure that earns her all the popularity she will want. Milan was always better than little Cottesloe, I guess. No, I don't really know. I don't really want to know her anymore.

this is so sad, and so hurtful. it makes me wonder what exactly happened for you to feel this way, and why was she lying in the first place. you imply that she was battleing battles that she wouldnt tell you about. what was she going through to remain silent about it, i wonder? and it makes me think about all the other people in the same situation. very thought inspiring, and well written. i love it.

Thankyou for the feedback. It's interesting the differences in how you interpreted it. It could be a culture difference, that she was brought up to be "polite" and not to offend people. So what problems she had with me, she was telling to Mrs Harvey, and I was completely unaware. I did tell a few times to tell me if she had problems with me at the start... When she came, she flattered everything, but she couldn't have meant it from what she's done. It's just not consistent anymore. She just says things to please people, and they're not honest. In her application letter, she wrote that she was very adaptable and didn't stop at the first appearance.

But that can't be right, if she tells me all I do is read, draw and play guitar. She didn't compromise, she wouldn't adapt. I don't think she really realised how much our family was doing for her... We tried pretty hard... We treated her as part of the family, unconditionally. She didn't want it. Then she just spat in our faces, and expected us not to be upset. I don't think her English is as good as she thinks it us.

It wasn't a pleasant experience. I don't think I should talk about it too much or I'll just end up building these feelings rather than dissipating them. But I don't like how it's all covered up at school.

Thanks for the favourite! I'll have to write some more stuff.
